"A local player," most likely Walter Fessenden, although it could have been his brother Charles.
Fessenden would become an umpire in the 1880s, with a stint in the National League in 1888 and 1889. He also managed a brief stint with Syracuse in the American Association in 1890.
Currently identified as just Fessenden.
