Three scouts braved the cold weather for the 2010 Freeze Out at Cuivre River State Park on January 16-17. The troop backpacked almost 10 miles from the camping grounds up to the northern end of the park and back, crossing several creeks and taking a break at the spring at the north end of camp. The scenery was beautiful, as the leave-less trees afforded great views down into the ravines and across the hills. At the completion of the hiking, we returned to camp for a cold, wet and muddy evening cooking dinner and cobbler before settling into warm sleeping bags for the night.
