The Whites lost their third straight game in Kansas City by a score of 10-1, which was better than the previous game. The Whites scored first in the bottom of the first when Crooks reached on an error by the second baseman Ardner, advanced to third on a hit by Burch, and then scored when Bradley threw wildly to first on Herr's grounder. That was the only scoring for the Whites, as they managed only two more hits for the game. Staley pitched well until the seventh, but was given poor support in the field. Kansas City scored a run in the fourth on an error, a wild pitch, and a passed ball. In the sixth, a run scored in a similar manner: Manning singled and was sacrificed to second, and then a dropped third strike followed by a muffed throw allowed Manning to score. Staley "went to pieces" in the seventh. He walked the first batter (Cartwright) and gave up a hit to Johnson. They stole second and third before Bradley hit one back to Staley, who threw wildly to first, allowing both runners to score. Reynolds walked and Staley hit Swartzel to load the bases. A wild pitch advanced everyone a base, scoring Bradley. At this point, Staley caught a break, as Manning lined out to Herr, who doubled Reynolds off third, and suddenly Staley is one out from getting out of the inning with just the two runs scoring. But Campau singled (scoring Swartel) and Hassamaer was hit in the head by a pitch. After a delay of a few minutes, Ardner singled, scoring Campau and advancing Hassamaer to third. Ardner stole second, with Hassamaer scoring on the throw down to second. Cartwright doubled, driving in Ardner to finish the scoring. Johnson flew out to Kenyon in center to end the inning. Nine runs thus far and none of the earned. The Globe Democrat claimed Staley was given a soggy ball for the inning, which was echoed in two other papers. The Blues scored their only earned run in the ninth on a triple and a sacrifice.
