The Whites won their fourth straight in a slugfest with Omaha. Nyce struck out 9, his highest total of the season. He also allowed nine hits, walked four, hit three batters and threw two wild pitches, as he allowed nine runs for the third time in his six starts. As with previous games, only a few of the runs were earned. Through this start, Nyce allowed a total of 40 runs (and that includes the shutout in his start three days prior). Seven of those were in the three innings of a start in Kansas City; the game stories indicate that only 7 of the 20 runs scored by Kansas City were earned, but do not attribute the runs to Nyce or Herr. Of the remaining 33 runs, only 13 were earned. The caveat on this is that walks were counted as errors, and I do not know how that accounting impacted earned runs vs. unearned runs. On the offensive side, the Whites banged out 13 hits, with three doubles and a triple. Five players had more than one hit, led by Beckley with two doubles. Crooks walked and was hit by a pitch to go along with a single. "The game was filled of excitement, loose fielding and good batting." The Whites fell behind early, down 8-6 after three innings and then battled back to win with their final run in the ninth. Herr was sick, so Crooks played at short, and he made 3 errors. This was the only game with the Whites Herr missed before he was transferred to the Browns in early June.
