Game 22: May 29, 1888

@ Kansas City
Kansas City 2, St. Louis 0
Record: 11-11

After the travel day, Staley started the first game in Kansas City, his fourth start in seven days. The St. Paul Globe reported that Staley showed signs of being overworked. He only struck out 4 hitters, his lowest total of the season. He also walked two, hit two batters, and threw two wild pitches. Kansas City bunched three singles for a run in the fourth. The scored their second in the eighth on a single, a wild pitch, and a wild throw to third by Staley. The game was considered well played and while close, rather dull. There were no extra base hits. The S. Louis Republican called it "one of the best and sharpest played games of the season." The loss dropped the Whites back to .500; this would be the last time they were at .500 for the season.
