June 21, 1888: Rainout
The game scheduled against Des Moines for June 21 was rained out. The lineup published in the Republican listed Jack Crooks as starting at second base, despite the fact that he had been sold to Omaha the day before. The rest of the lineup included a catcher (Dolan) at first base, a catcher (Cantz) in right field and a catcher (Kenyon) in center field. With the departure of Staley a few days earlier, Nyce was the last pitcher on the Whites roster.

June 22: Forfeit (14-26)
On June 22, the two clubs met again to play. With Crooks gone, the Whites were short a body, so Jim Devlin was placed in the lineup in right field. Des Moines protested, claiming Devlin was on the roster of the American Association club. Tom Loftus, manager of the Whites, countered that league rules stated any player could be played for up to five games on a trial basis without being signed by the club. It is presumably this rule that had allowed Murphy to start the game on June 20. The umpire forfeited the game to Des Moines.

June 23: Forfeit (14-27)
June 23 saw a repeat of the previous day. Devlin was placed in right field, Des Moines protested, and the Whites forfeited. By the end of the day, the Whites had formally disbanded and dropped from the Western Association. Their final record (ignoring the two forfeits) as 14-25. They lost their last nine games, after Herr was transferred to the Browns. But they weren't quite done yet. They played one last game, on June 24, against the Missouri Amateur Athletic Club, in a charity game.
