Game 4: May 3, 1888

St. Louis 12, Chicago 9
Record: 3-1

The Whites jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, watched the lead drop to 9-7, and then scored three runs late and held on to win 12-9. Only two of the runs scored by Chicago were earned, as the Whites made 11 errors. The pitcher for Chicago was Arthur Clarkson (later known as Dad Clarkson), brother of John Clarkson, who was at the peak of his Hall of Fame career. This was Clarkson's only start with the Maroons. He ultimately broke into the majors in 1891 and played three seasons with the Browns from 1893-1895.
